I'll click IconPackager and it starts to open and then disappears. Will not fully open. What is wrong?

You may have gotten the one build that had an activation routine in it (it doesn't prompt you, apparently, just won't open until its been "activated"). The latest build currently up on SDC supposedly fixes that.

1Ribbit,

You might try the following:

Download this zapper utility Link > double-click the executible > use the "uninstall" tab to select and remove Icon Packager > reboot > delete the IconPackager folder found in either "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop", or "C:\Program Files\Stardock" folder.

Go here Link and if you are trying out first, use the shareware download link (top link) to access the download > download and install the program.

Pay attention to all messages that occur during the installation and loading processes to make sure you understand what they mean. This version is a 30 day tryout, and will expire, but it will allow you to test functionality on your machine.

I tested this version yesterday on an average desktop successfully, so it should work.

If you are an Object Desktop subscriber, or have purchased the enhanced version of IconPackager, then use Stardock Central instead. The current version that I have installed, and has worked without issue, is the official release 3.00b.093. Make sure in the case of using Stardock Central, that you use the Tools menu > Register products function to register the product before installing.

Note - It is possible that any real-time anti-spyware functions in a security software may be blocking the program from writing the required files to load. Zone Alarm Pro 6 (new release) is such a piece of software, though this firewall program alerts the user and requires a decision be made before allowing the program to load the first time.

I hope this helps in some way.

I removed icon packager with link, rebooted, deleted icon folder in object desktop, turned off firewall, microsoft anti spyware, and virus program. Made sure object desktop was registered, wincustomize browers registered, downloaded from objrct desktop and still Icon Packager opens for about 5 seconds and then dissappears. About to give up on it. Been on laptop all mourning trying to get it.

Start/ Run: regsvr32 /u "C:\program files\stardock\object desktop\iconpackager\iprepair.dll" and reboot

If you have 'Enhanced Dialog' installed, un-install it.

What I have dome is go back and restored computer to when Icon Packager was working. The old version, and all is ok. Maybe we should all do this until people get things worked out. It was a hassle doing alot of things over but I at least have a working Icon Packager

Okay. the installation of the latest beta version did help!
1Ribbit: i had the same issue, (when clicking ip it launches it and just as it appears onscreen, it dissapears completely), and even reverting to an old archived version i didn't manage to make it work. on the other hand, although i do tend to avoid beta version, the latest one did work! Yippie!
